Ronette Doering began our business in the early 1980's, when she (a traditional Scandinavian folk dancer and sewing instructor by trade) developed her first traditional costume patterns. Ronette spent the next 20 years developing Doering Designs into a thriving wholesale company that not only provided costume patterns for women, men and children, but directly imported Norwegian pewter and wool braids, and Swedish cotton braids and jewelry. When Ronette decided to retire in 2007, she had developed a full service wholesale company that offers everything from the basic costume materials to clothing, jewelry and gifts, always with a focus on our Scandinavian roots. 

  Today, as lilleknappen inc. ("little button" in Norwegian), we are continuing Doering's nod to Scandinavia's traditions, as well as honoring it's rich history of design in both past and present times. With an eye on modern design and a changing retail environment, we are constantly developing new products that evoke simplicity, consideration, and a love for materials.
